5.2 Developer handoff with Sketch

Woohoo! You made it to the final lesson, congratulations!👏 We’ll wrap the course learning how to use the different developer handoff tools in Sketch.

Key learnings

  • Use comments to your designs to add additional design context or requirements — simply click the ‘New Comment’ icon at the top.

  • The ‘Version’ tab is where you‘ll find the history of your documents. Add a description to a version to highlight key milestones or important changes in your document’s history.

  • In the Inspect Tab, you’ll see the current Artboard’s attributes. Click anywhere on the Artboard to select a layer and see its properties in the Inspector.

  • In the Components Web View your Sketch Libraries expose everything your developers need from your design system, automatically.

  • With Color Tokens, developers can export, integrate, and sync Color Variables from your designs directly into their development projects.

  • When you mark something as ‘Exportable’ in the Mac app, it automatically becomes available to developers as a downloadable asset in the web app.

Lesson files

  • How do you duplicate a document?

To duplicate a document to your Workspace, click on Three dots in the top bar and choose Duplicate to My Drafts. Have fun!
